The 12" was also a JL Audio product, so I knew from the start that even if I couldn't get the same depth, I'd still be getting really good sound. I built my own custom speaker box out of particule board and a compound miter saw. The bass sounds solid, the range is crossed over at 100 hertz frequency and I have to turn the bass down some keep from drowning out my 6.5" component speakers. The box that I built is tuned and has a slot port. One of the best sounding subs that I've ever owned. If you make your own box, make sure that you seal the inside corners of your box: I used a tube of silicone from home depot. |
