Let me preface by saying I originally upgraded my stock speakers with PVI 216 Components......After I solved the tweeter issues with foam discs, and got them dialed in, they performed nicely...... These Q 216 speakers have magnets almost double the size compared to the PVIs (woofers), and the rubber surrounds are much beefier..... Install was easy; just a matter of swapping wires and tweeters...... Now... the more important stuff... Sound Quality..... I have a Kenwood Excelon KDC X994..... This deck is very nice; and has been dialed in with time alignment; Xover settings and hpf/lpf/sub; etc...... FYI..... The Qs are freshly installed with about 30 min listening time...... I will follow up after 20-50 hours..... You know what? The PVIs were great..... These are great also! WOW. Right off the bat... The tweeters are SMOOTH.... no foam disc needed here...... The woofers can handle more... I had a set of Fosgate T2 components before (which are very nice by the way) though the aluminum tweeters were almost a little too much. The weird thing about these speakers is the longer you listen to them the more they WOW you. I installed these in the front of my 11' Colorado with 10x10 dynamat speaker kit and 1/2 mdf rings due to the fact that the woofers are 6.75 inches and didn't quite fit in the stock cutout. I have a rockford p450 putting out 85 watts rms X 4 in the neighborhood of 2/3 gain. Spend a little time tuning your amp and eq and all of the sudden you'll be changing your drawers. One warning though, the picture does not give you an accurate idea of how big the crossovers actually are, I would approximate 6x4x2 inches, I had to put them in the door cubby comprimising space, but hey after spending 300 on a pair of speakers it doesnt hurt to show them off a little. |
